Now that the 2022 concert season is over, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre is undergoing the first phase of anticipated renovations set to be completed for the 2023 season. This includes updating the venue’s Ship Rock Grille for the first time since it opened in 2003.

According to Tad Bowman, the Red Rocks Amphitheatre director, modifications are being made to make the restaurant more environmentally friendly and inviting to patrons.

“We’re updating the look and feel of the space,” Bowman said. “You’ll be able to see the bar right in front of you as you enter the visitor’s center.”

This, designers hope, will create a more inviting atmosphere for the bar and grill. While the layout of the restaurant won’t change dramatically, Ship Rock’s furniture will be updated for the first time. Adding a family restroom will help to improve accessibility for customers. Wall treatments (paint, paneling, molding, etc.) will receive improved environmental modifications. Planners are aiming for more efficient food service, as well as the kitchen will be reconfigured to help with food preparation and catering.

Ship Rock offers a standard American fare of bar appetizers, salads, burgers, sandwiches, and, of course, craft beer and wine. Once renovations are near completion, Ship Rock’s chef will update the menu for the 2023 season.
