A family is bringing their concept to a former restaurant.
The team at Grandma Bob’s pizza is planning expansion at 8044 Kercheval this year. The concept has been around for seven years serving Detroit-style pizzas and boozy shakes. Co-owner Dave Kwiatkowski told What Now Detroit he and his brother John are hoping to debut the new spot this December.
Grandma Bob’s first debuted in Corktown at 2135 Michigan Avenue. Both David and John are part of hospitality company Detroit Optimist Society Restaurant Group. Other names from this group include The Sugar House, Honest John’s and Wright & Company.
Their Detroit-style pies include staples like cheese and pepperoni, and their meat lover with Italian sausage and bacon. 12-inch bar-style pizzas are also served, which come with six slices. The boozy shakes, mixed with alcohol of course, have been popular options, and the location also serves
The new shop is under construction on the south side of Kercheval Avenue, close to Sister Pie at the corner of Parker Street. This is also near Washed Up Coffee, and the area is next to Indian Village. Downtown Detroit is a 10-minute drive from the location.
