A patriotic sit-down concept is on the way to Northwest Ohio.
Mission BBQ joins a major economic development project in Toledo as the Westgate Plaza is getting new tenants this year including Trader Joes, from recent listings. This continues the company’s expansion around Ohio. An exact address and opening date have not been announced as it is early in the construction process.
The barbecue restaurant was debuted in 2011 by Steve Newton and Bill Kraus as a way to honor those who currently serve in the military and veterans across the country. It was founded in Glen Burnie, Maryland and has since been expanding around the south, northeast and midwest. This will be their first location in Toledo.
Menus are mostly the same at all of the restaurants, with staples like brisket, pulled pork, sausage and a smoked cheeseburger. Lighter options like salads and sides of mac & cheese are also served. Locations do not serve alcoholic beverages.
The plaza is on the north side of Central Avenue, with restaurant chains like The Original Pancake House, QDOBA and Piada Italian Street Food. This area is near the Old Orchard neighborhood, on the northwest side of the city
