A South Asian cuisine chain is continuing to grow their presence in the suburbs.
From recent social media posts, a new Noorjahan Indian Cuisine location is to be built at 23017 Outer Drive West in Allen Park. This is at the former Detroit Wing Company, and will be the company’s ninth restaurant. As the plans were recently laid out for the new restaurant, no opening date has been released.
Noorjahan was established in 2013 and has quickly grown across Metro Detroit. The restaurant currently serves the cuisine in Waterford Township, Grosse Pointe Park, Berkley, Rochester Hills, Grosse Pointe Woods, New Baltimore and downtown Detroit.
Before opening the Detroit spot, owner Syed Mutaher grew up in England working at an Indian restaurant with his father, per an article from Click on Detroit. He is also behind Royal Bengal Cuisine in Warren. When What Now Detroit reached out to Mutaher, he was not available for comment.
Staple Indian dishes are served at the locations, such as chicken biryani, chicken tikka masala, lamb and chili chicken. The restaurants offer 16 different curries, and are all gluten free and do not contain additives. The menu is expected to be the same for Allen Park.
The restaurant is coming to the Independence Marketplace shopping mall area. This is near the intersection of Outer Drive W and Southfield Road, at the overpass for Southfield Freeway. Other chains at this location include Cold Stone Creamery, Five Guys and Starbucks.
On the Michigan Business Registry website, the Allen Park location is now listed. As it gets closer to the opening, Noorjahan will be updating the Allen Park community on their Facebook page.
