The Story Behind the Restaurant
Houston-based couple Grace and Leo Xia opened the first Duck N Bao location in Cypress in 2020. It was well-known for its authentic Sichuan cuisine and bold flavors.
The restaurant used traditional cooking techniques from Southwest China and high-quality ingredients.
After its success in the Cypress location, the owners expanded with two additional Houston-area locations. In 2021, Duck N Bao opened its second location in Memorial and its third location in Rice Village in 2024.
Even though the Cypress location is closed, the remaining locations will continue to serve the community. Apart from Duck N Bao, the Xia couple also operates multiple other restaurants.
“Over the years, our restaurant family has grown to include two additional Duck N Bao locations, along with Hongdae 33 Korean BBQ and Seven Sushi & Robata.”
The team wrote an emotional message: “As our businesses, family, and plans have become increasingly centered in Houston, the end of our Cypress lease felt like the right time for this next chapter.”
The closure of the Cypress location of the Duck N Bao chain marks the end of a significant chapter in the vibrant Houston dining community.
