Feng Cha is bringing something sweet to the Northwest Crossing Shopping Center. According to a recently filed permit, the new Feng Cha is expected to open in the Northwest Houston area within Jersey Village at 13280 NORTHWEST FWY SUITE E.

The permit also details that construction should start in May and is slated to wrap up at the beginning of October. If all goes well with the $100,000 construction project and permitting, Feng Cha should be whipping up and dishing out boba tea galore out of the Northwest Crossing center’s newest store by this fall.

At the helm of the new franchise opening is Selena Li LiWhat Now Houston reached out to Li Li to find out more details about the upcoming Feng Cha opening, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

“Before Feng Cha became a community of over 80 shops across the U.S., it was just a boy and a girl — two college friends who shared laughs, dreams, and one favorite ritual: hanging out at the local boba shop,” the Feng Cha website reads.

“That shop was more than a place for sweet drinks. It was a sanctuary after long lectures, a spot for spontaneous late-night chats, and the backdrop to a love story that would one day blossom into a business. Back then, we were just boyfriend and girlfriend, not yet husband and wife. But we knew one thing for sure — boba had a magical way of turning ordinary moments into unforgettable ones.”

The brand was founded by Johnny Gao and Yan Chen in Dallas in 2017.  Feng Cha has rapidly grown since then. There are now more than a thousand Feng Cha locations across the globe, with the highest concentration in Texas and California. There are nearly 50 locations in Texas, with almost 20 of those in the Houston area, including one in Chinatown, Sugar Land, and Cypress.

What Now Houston attempted to reach out to Gao to find out more details about the expansion, but did not hear back by the time of this publication.

The U.S.-based tea franchise specializes in premium boba tea, cheese milk foam, and customizable fruit teas.

“We’ve brought the fun and flexibility of boba culture into the broader American beverage scene, offering handcrafted drinks that suit every mood and craving,” the website reads.

“At Feng Cha, we take pride in using fresh ingredients, premium products, and offering a comfortable, beautiful space where everyone feels welcome.”
