Jimmy John’s is set to join Dunkin‘ at TA Express this year. According to a recently filed permit, the new Jimmy John’s will be inside the Travel Centers of America, where Dunkin will also undergo renovations at 4808 N. McCarty Street.
The permit further details that construction has just started and is slated to wrap up by mid-October. If all goes well with the estimated $1.2 million construction project and permitting, the 2,820 square-foot space for Jimmy John’s and Dunkin’ should be completed by this fall.
Behind the opening and the two brands is Inspire Brands. What Now Houston reached out to Inspire Brands Senior Project Manager Jay Bauch to learn more about the upcoming Jimmy John’s opening and Dunkin’ renovations. Unfortunately, we did not hear back from Bauch by the time this publication was published, although Bauch was listed on the permit.
Founded in 1983 by 19-year-old Jimmy John Liautaud in Charleston, Illinois, Jimmy John’s grew from a small advance. As mentioned, Jimmy John’s is now part of the Inspire Brands portfolio, which also manages Dunkin’, Arby’s, Sonic, and Buffalo Wild Wings.
By focusing on freshly sliced meats, fresh-baked bread, and late-night delivery to college students, Liautuad grew the brand into a multibillion-dollar fast-food empire before Inspire Brands began the global expansion we see today.
There are now more than 2,600 Jimmy John’s locations operating across the United States. Dunkin’ has more than 14,000 locations worldwide. There are more than 60 total locations of these two Inspire Brands chains scattered across the Houston area.
While Jimmy John’s is known for its widely celebrated hot and cold subs, Dunkin’ is beloved for its variety of donuts and coffee.
Jimmy John’s is anticipated to open upon completion of Dunkin’ Donuts’ renovation inside the Travel Centers of America at 4808 N. McCarty Street by this fall.
