Long Point Social Club, a new neighborhood racquet and social club built around competition, connection and community, will open to the public next week, Wednesday, August 26, in Houston’s Spring Branch neighborhood.
The all-day destination reimagines the traditional racquet club as a welcoming community gathering place, featuring 12 pickleball courts, including eight covered courts, four padel courts, a specialty coffee shop, full kitchen and bar, dog park and thoughtfully designed spaces for gathering on and off the court. Blending racquet sports, dining and social experiences, Long Point Social Club is designed for competitive athletes, casual players, families, dog owners and guests simply looking to enjoy coffee, a meal or drinks with friends.
Created by Andy Aweida and Jeff Barati, co-owners of The Kirby Group, Long Point Social Club spans two acres and is designed as an inclusive community hub where guests can learn, compete, connect and spend time together throughout the day. Four membership tiers will be available, along with public court access, giving regular players, newcomers and casual guests flexible ways to experience the club.
“We wanted to create more than a place to play,” said Aweida in a statement. “Long Point Social Club is designed to bring people together, whether they are joining a league, learning a new sport, meeting friends for open play or simply spending time in the space. Our goal is to build a community where everyone can find a way to participate and feel welcome.”
A robust calendar of pickleball and padel programming will offer options for a range of skill levels, playing styles and schedules. Leagues will include set partner and round robin play, King of the Court, cumulative leaderboards, padel Americano and more. Sessions are expected to run for five weeks, with brief breaks between each session. Major League Pickleball style team leagues are also expected to launch in the coming months.
Beyond league play, open play sessions, tournaments, mixed doubles mixers and other social events will offer relaxed ways for guests to play, meet new partners and connect with fellow players.
The club’s pickleball and padel coaches will offer clinics, private lessons and group instruction. With a variety of coaching approaches and playing styles available, guests can find the right fit whether they are learning the fundamentals, developing their competitive game or trying a new racquet sport for the first time.
Courts will remain available for individual reservations while leagues, lessons and other programming are underway. The size and design of the facility will allow the club to maintain flexible booking access alongside a full schedule of organized play.
Community programming will extend beyond racquet sports. Guests can bring their dogs to the dog park, join run clubs, attend themed gatherings or watch major sporting events across nine televisions and an LED video wall. The varied calendar is designed to offer guests activities that fit a range of interests and schedules.
The food and beverage program will complement the club experience throughout the day. The LP Café will open at 8 a.m., serving specialty coffee, pastries, bagels, smoothies and grab and go selections until 3 p.m. The Long Point Social Club kitchen and bar will open at 3 p.m., offering an approachable menu made from scratch, along with beer, wine and cocktails. Weekend brunch and daily happy hour will give guests additional opportunities to gather off the court.
Signature selections include Pickleballs, cream cheese and dill pickle fritters served with yogurt ranch; the 7202 Steak, a sweet potato “steak” with miso butter and green apple gremolata; Third Shot Wings with Calabrian chili and Tajín honey; the Bixby Burger with double smash patties, American cheese, pickles and house sauce; and the Grilled Chicken Sandwich with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil and Long Point sauce.
The property will also be home to The Bixby, a distinct cocktail lounge with a separate entrance and identity. Additional details about The Bixby will be announced separately.
Long Point Social Club’s courts will be open daily from 8 a.m.–midnight. LP Café will be open from 8 a.m.–10 p.m.; the bar from noon–midnight; and the kitchen from 3–10 p.m. The Bixby will operate daily from 4 p.m.–2 a.m.
