Clarke Bros. Subs has announced plans to close later this month. The closure adds to a growing list of restaurant closures in the area. The news was shared via social media, leaving the community saddened and disappointed.
Clarke Bros. Subs Has Announced Its Upcoming Closure
Jacksonville’s Riverside neighborhood is soon to bid goodbye to a popular sandwich restaurant this month. Clarke Bros. Subs has announced its upcoming closure on social media. The restaurant has been a part of the community for nearly three years, and this closure is a loss for the local dining scene.
The restaurant is located at 2545 Riverside Avenue across from Ascension St. Vincent’s Riverside Hospital. The restaurant built a following around specialty sandwiches such as ‘The Duuuval’ cheesesteak and rotating weekly specials. Other popular menu items include house-smoked pastrami classic, Cubano, The 3 Little Pigs, bacon cheddar tots, and gochujang wings.
Owner Andy shared that the restaurant will now operate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. until its closure on June 20, 2026. Customers will have until June 20 to visit before the restaurant closes.
The announcement follows several recent restaurant closures across Jacksonville. Earlier this month another Jacksonville favorite, Prospect Five Points, also announced its closure. The owners called it a “Rough Year” before deciding to close its doors permanently.
Community’s Reaction
The news of the closure was met with instant disappointment from the community. Customers gathered on social media to share their emotions over the closure.
One Facebook user wrote, “Aye man, April Fools’ was 2 months ago. Stop playing.”
Another user wrote, “I am so sorry to hear this. You have an outstanding establishment that has never failed me. I wish you the best of luck on all of your future endeavors.”
“I’m so, so sorry to hear this! Your Monte Cristo was my favorite; I’ve never had one better. My friends agree. My heart goes out to you. I’m so sorry you are closing. Thank you so very much for the amazing food and customer service!” wrote another Facebook user.
Clarke Bros. Subs’ final day of service is almost here. Meanwhile, the community is rushing to grab their favorite sandwich for the last time.
