LEGO fans will have another place to hunt for sets, minifigures and loose bricks as Bricks & Minifigs prepares to open a new Jacksonville location at College Park.
The store is planned for 3,450 square feet at 923 University Blvd. N., according to the Jacksonville Daily Record, which reported that city officials are reviewing permits for tenant improvements.
Bricks & Minifigs specializes in LEGO products, but the concept goes beyond simply selling new sets. Its stores buy, sell and trade LEGO collections, giving customers a place to find everything from current releases to older and retired sets.
According to the company’s website, shoppers can find LEGO sets, loose bricks, minifigures, DUPLO bricks and other LEGO-related items. Inventory varies from store to store because each location buys and trades directly with its local community.
That also means the selection can change regularly, particularly for collectors looking for retired sets, unusual minifigures or specific pieces.
Customers who have LEGO they no longer want can also bring it into the store to be evaluated for a cash or store-credit offer. Bricks & Minifigs accepts prebuilt sets, sealed sets, loose bricks, minifigures and other LEGO products.
The College Park location will be part of the continued redevelopment of the former Town & Country Shopping Center at University Boulevard and Arlington Expressway. Jacksonville-based JWB Real Estate Capital is redeveloping the approximately 189,000-square-foot property, which is now home to Winn-Dixie and a growing mix of businesses.
Bricks & Minifigs is one of several new tenants currently moving through the permitting process at the center. Other upcoming businesses include Fish N Flips Swim School, Tower of Games and First Gear Coffee, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record.
The brand already has a Jacksonville Beach location, making the College Park shop an additional Jacksonville-area location rather than the company’s first local store. The new shop will give LEGO builders and collectors farther west and north of the beaches another option for buying, selling and trading their collections.
An opening date for the College Park location has not yet been announced.
For now, LEGO fans will have to wait a little longer before they can start digging through the new store’s inventory, but the College Park location is officially moving through the permitting process.
