Blue Ribbon Sushi is preparing to make a triumphant return to Palisades Village after being closed since the Palisades fires early last year. It will reopen this August alongside the addition of Ukei Omakase, a new 14-seat tasting experience orchestrated by Chef Hongki Lee, according to a release.
Ueki at Blue Ribbon Sushi will offer 10 seats at the sushi bar and two booths for two, with design elements such as warm lighting, plush seating, deep wood tones and red tile accents. It will feature its own entrance hidden by a hand-crafted shibori curtain to offer an elevated, intimate dining experience. The space will center around the hinoki wood sushi bar, where Lee will offer multi-course tasting menus featuring fish, shellfish, seasonal offerings and Japanese Wagyu beef. The spot will also feature a beverage program including a bespoke cocktail menu, sake, fine wines and whiskey.
Ueki will operate from Wednesday through Friday with a seating at 6:15 p.m., and it will have two seatings at 5:15 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. It will also be available for private events throughout the week outside of operating hours.
Along with the addition of Ueki, Blue Ribbon Sushi’s return will include an expanded Japanese-inspired outdoor space with a pergola for year-round outdoor dining. The reimagined space will add about 20 seats to the patio.
Chefs Bruce and Eric Bromberg and master sushi chef Toshi Ueki launched Blue Ribbon Sushi in SoHo in 1995. Over the years, it has expanded its presence to include spots in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Boston and Miami. There is another Los Angeles location at The Grove.
