Matna, a new Korean street food spot, has moved into Ozeki Sushi’s former space in Ventura. Owner Choung He Kim said they are working on finishing touches and should be open within the next month.
“Matna in Korean has two meanings, one is to meet people and the other is delicious. So, the idea behind the restaurant is to meet good people and eat good food,” said Kim.
The counter service restaurant will offer dine in and takeout and will serve Korean staples like kimbap, Korean fried chicken, spicy rice cakes and ramen. “All our food will be made in-house. Our cheese pork katsu will be our specialty and we’ll also offer house-made Korean beverages like green grape ade. We want to give our customers things you can’t really find anywhere else.”
Prices will range from $13-$23.
Kim also owns Sura, a traditional Korean restaurant located in Oxnard around 15 minutes from Matna.
