Sandough, the Los Angeles sandwich shop known for its 48-hour fermented pizza dough sandwiches, is expanding to Burbank and Glendale.
Owner Hakob Badalyan tells What Now Los Angeles that the Burbank location at 4007 W. Riverside Drive is expected to open in mid-November, while the Glendale location at 126 S. Brand Boulevard is planned for late November or early December. The Burbank site will replace the former home of Smashed AF Burgers, while the Glendale location will move into the former home of Mediterranean Delight.
The expansion will bring Sandough’s Italian-inspired menu beyond its current location at 7276 Melrose Ave. The restaurant’s signature sandwiches use slow-fermented pizza dough as the bread, which is baked and filled with ingredients inspired by Italian cuisine.
Menu offerings include The Parma, featuring 18-month-aged Prosciutto di Parma, stracciatella, heirloom tomato, and wild arugula; Mortadella with parmigiano ricotta crema and pistachio; and Funghi with roasted mushrooms, confit garlic, and fontina. Other options include Chicken Parm, Meatball, Pastrami, Chicken Calabrese, and The Verde.
Sandough describes its concept as a combination of Italian technique and Los Angeles creativity, with each item crafted by hand and finished in the oven. In addition to its signature sandwiches, the menu includes salads, sides, drinks and sauces.
The Melrose location offers dine-in, takeout, delivery, and catering. Once the new shops open, customers in Burbank and Glendale will have access to Sandough’s menu closer to home.
The Burbank location is currently slated to open first, followed by Glendale toward the end of the year. Both openings will expand Sandough’s footprint from its original Melrose location into two additional Southern California communities.
