Truffle Brothers Market — an authentic Italian operation formed by a family of foragers — is coming to Westfield Topanga’s new food hall, Topanga Social

Nearly two decades ago, brothers Michael and Marco Pietroiacovo began importing their region’s famous white Molise truffles to the US…and it wasn’t long before they would gain a nickname — one that stuck.

But this fungal endeavor wasn’t new to the siblings. As children, their grandfather had shown them how to forage for the elusive tuber in the Appenino mountains throughout Molise, Italy.

“Fascinated by the world of truffles, they eventually bought and trained their own truffle hunting dogs,” explains the Truffle Brothers website. “They learned the art of selling by observing the tactics of local roaming vendors selling truffles, cheeses, and meats from their trucks — as early as their teenage years the group [Michael, Marco, and their siblings Massimo and Dana] were selling truffles to pizza parties and decadent first dates.”

Today, the Truffle Brothers supply restaurants in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Miami, New York, and Dallas, and now it appears the duo is ready to open a market at Topanga’s newest dining mecca.

According to Westfield Topanga, the food hall should open this spring.
