Petros, a Greek-Californian restaurant, is opening a new location at 431 Culver Boulevard in Playa del Rey.

The company, led by Petros Benekos, recently submitted a liquor license application for Petros Speakeasy at the address, which will also be the company’s newest location after the planned closure of Petros Manhattan Beach after 21 years. An exact opening date has not been announced.

Petros announced on Instagram that its Manhattan Beach restaurant at 451 Manhattan Beach Boulevard had its final day of service on Sunday, September 13. The company thanked the Manhattan Beach community for its support over the past 21 years and said the closure marks a new chapter for the business. Petros also operates Petros on Sunset at 9201 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood.

“To our Manhattan Beach community, thank you for your love, loyalty, and support; it has meant more to us than we can say. But this isn’t goodbye… It’s a new chapter. Coming soon to Playa del Rey, 431 Culver Blvd, Playa del Rey, CA 90293. And you can always visit us at: Petros Sunset, 9201 Sunset Blvd. Thank you for all the memories. We can’t wait to make many more with you at Playa & Sunset”

The Playa del Rey location will join an existing Petros presence in the neighborhood. The company currently lists Petros Kafe at 427 Culver Boulevard, as well as Petros locations in West Hollywood, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Los Olivos. The new address at 431 Culver Boulevard is next door to the company’s existing Playa del Rey cafe.

Petros restaurants offer Greek- and California-inspired cuisine using ingredients such as imported olive oil, feta, honey, oregano, and wines from Greece. The company also uses fresh organic produce from its farms in Los Olivos and local California sources. Its menu blends Greek and California cuisine, with a focus on quality, simplicity, and seasonal ingredients.

The company has not shared additional details about Petros Speakeasy beyond the liquor license application and the announcement that the Playa del Rey location is coming soon. Petros was founded on a blend of Greek culinary traditions and California ingredients, with restaurants now spanning Manhattan Beach, Santa Barbara, Playa del Rey, West Hollywood, and Sawtelle Los Angeles.
