A fast-casual heavy hitter is making moves towards its second act in a Germantown storefront. Wendelta, a busy and accomplished development group, is making important strides towards reopening a Poplar Avenue Wendy’s as it works to secure the necessary bureaucratic approvals.
Wendelta presented its proposed revised final plan for the 7569 Poplar Avenue restaurant at the August 20th meeting of the City of Germantown Planning Commission Sketch Plan Committee. Submitted plans offer a glimpse at some of the intended upgrades, including new wall tiles, the installation of a new exterior canopy, new windows, accents and paint jobs, and the relocation of the drive-thru window.
The application additionally clarifies that the site will receive upgrades to not just the building but the area around it, described in part as “pedestrian friendly/streetscape improvements in keeping with the Smartgrowth small area plan.”
Germantown residents who have been missing the Wendy’s experience since the restaurant shuttered this particular location can rest assured that the storefront’s comeback in in incredibly capable hands. Wendelta is an award-winning franchisee which operates more than 220 Wendy’s locations across 11 states. The website reveals that the secret to the company’s success is that it “relies on Wendy’s Founder Dave Thomas’s five core values – Quality Matters, Treat Everyone with Respect, Do the Right Thing, Profit is not a Dirty Word and Give Back – to be operationally excellent.”
