At the end of May 2024, beloved college bar and restaurant Ubee’s on Highland bid farewell to its longtime location in search of a new home. Now, we have learned what will take its place.

According to permits filed with Develop901, Masti Indian Grill will soon move into the former site of Ubee’s at 521 S Highland St.

While owner Madhu Ankisetty did not provide many details, he said that he hopes to open the new eatery in the first week of August.

Ankisetty brings extensive experience to the table; according to his online presence, he owned Maharaja Indian Cuisine in Oxford for over 17 years and currently operates Germantown’s Mantra Indian Grill.

Based on the menus of his other establishments, Masti Indian Grill will offer traditional Indian fare such as chana masala, butter chicken, and garlic naan, as well as a variety of biryanis and curries. The eatery will also serve alcohol.

Keep an eye out for further details; Ankisetty said that more information should be available next week.
