Local West African barbecue joint Mande Dibi is expanding with a food market.

Chef and owner Bala Tounkara will soon open M&B African Food Market next door to Mande Dibi at 6825 Winchester Rd in East Memphis.

The new market will feature a diverse selection of products from West, East, and Central Africa. Customers will find grains and flours for traditional dishes like fufu, pounded cassava leaves, and sweet potato leaves.

Additionally, M&B African Food Market will offer a selection of smoked fish and chicken, freshly butchered meats (including lamb, beef, chicken, and fish), 100% shea butter, essential beauty products for men and women, African seasonings and ingredients, and ready-to-eat meals.

Tounkara told What Now Memphis that he hopes to open M&B African Food Market by the end of July 2024.
