La Latina, a favorite Venezuelan restaurant, said goodbye to the Miami community last weekend. The restaurant served its final meal on August 9 and marked the end of its 15-year journey.
La Latina Closes After 15 Years in Miami
One of the most highly rated, vibrant, and chic restaurants in Miami, La Latina has announced permanent closure. The restaurant was known for its Venezuelan-inspired decor and traditional comfort food. The menu featured traditional Latin American street food and offered gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options.
The restaurant aimed to bring the warmth of Venezuela and the comfort of Latina food to Miami. The restaurant team announced the closure with an official social media post. The team wrote that after 15 years of service, the restaurant decided to close.
The team thanked the community and said, “Thank you for embracing us as your neighborhood arepera since 2011 and allowing us to make this our home away from Venezuela.”
According to a Hoodline report, the restaurant, co-owned and operated by Jose Cardenas, Alberto Zanetti, and Alejandro Díaz, was founded in 2011.
Following the restaurant closure, several community members expressed their disappointment on social media.
One customer wrote, “The best Venezuelan food restaurant in Miami!!! Makes me a little sad, but I’m sure it’s the best decision for the group.”

Sister Location Remains Open
Even though the restaurant closed its 3509 NE 2nd Avenue, Miami location, La Latina will continue to serve the community with its sister location. La Latina is tied to two related concepts: Miami Slice and Tina (Tina in the Gables).
In the closure announcement, the restaurant team encouraged the community to visit the remaining locations. “While we’ll be focusing our efforts on other projects, la latina will live on through our sister Tina, the MSh* family, and many more to come,” the team said.
The restaurant will be remembered for its Latin comfort food and the legacy it left behind.
