Whit’s Frozen Custard is expanding again in South Florida with a new location in Davie.
Scoops N Smiles LLC has also filed permit applications with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation to open a location at 2601 S. University Drive. The frozen dessert chain lists the location as “Coming Soon” on its website.
Founded by Chuck and Lisa Whitman in Granville, Ohio, in 2003, Whit’s has grown from a single frozen custard shop into a franchise with more than 100 locations. The company’s franchise website says Whit’s now has more than 100 locations across 11 states.
The chain changed hands in 2025, when Whit’s was acquired by Space Cowboys Restaurant Group, led by businessman Bill Aseere, who became CEO of the company.
Whit’s specializes in frozen custard made fresh throughout the day, with vanilla and chocolate offered alongside rotating flavors. Customers can order traditional scoops as well as shakes, sundaes and floats. The menu also includes Whitsers, which blend frozen custard with toppings and mix-ins, and Whitties, cookie sandwiches filled with frozen custard.
