A routine health inspection was conducted by the Tennessee Department of Health at Persis Biryani Indian Grill on April 22, 2026. The inspection found multiple health code violations, including improper food temperatures, lack of paper towels at a handwash sink, and buildup on surfaces.

Persis Biryani Indian Grill is an Indian restaurant chain known for its Hyderabadi dum Biryani and offers a variety of North and South Indian cuisine. According to the official inspection report, the violations include:
- Employees used personal mobile phones and then handled food without washing their hands.
- The handwash sink had an empty paper towel dispenser.
- The inspection report observed a pan of cooked rice kept out at 78°F. Soft-boiled eggs were measured at 47°F on a prep tray with ice. The eggs were left out for two hours.
- A pan of cut cabbage was left out at 61°F. The items were later placed in a cooler to cool.
- A bottle of sinus medicine and oven cleaner were stored directly near clean dishes and above uncovered food on the shelves.

- The inspection report noted two buckets of uncovered food products stored directly on the floor in the walk-in freezer.
- The in-use knife was stored between the cooler lids. The area appeared to be dirty and unsanitary.
- The facility was using a plastic bowl as a scooper for dry food products. Several spoons were left in pans of room-temperature, standing water.
- The report observed stacked dishes on the table behind the prep line, non-inverted and without any overhead protection.
- The cooler door was damaged and missing a seal; the facility taped the missing seal with duct tape.
- The inside of the microwave was also dirty and required cleaning.
- Employees were storing their food and drinks on top of the dish machine.
- Grease buildup was noted on cooking equipment, and dust accumulation was observed on the wall and ceiling.

Follow-up Inspection

Following the inspection, the restaurant received a low score. A follow-up inspection will be conducted to assess the restaurant’s condition.
The restaurant is required to correct all the violations before a reinspection is conducted.
