TailGate Brewery has acquired Yazoo Brewing Company’s production facility and taproom at 900 River Bluff Drive, Madison, expanding its brewing capacity and adding another taproom to its network. The acquisition was reported by Nashville Scene, with the transition expected to begin immediately.
The 6.5-acre property will become a major brewing hub for TailGate, complementing the company’s existing headquarters in West Nashville. According to Nashville Scene, the Madison facility has a 40-barrel brewing system that will support TailGate’s production needs as the brewery continues to grow. The acquisition gives the company additional space for brewing while retaining the existing site’s taproom.
Customers can also expect changes to the food offering. TailGate plans to introduce its pizza kitchen program at the Madison location, following the model used at its other taprooms. The change means Grillshack Fries and Burgers will leave the property, although the business will continue operating in East Nashville and Germantown, according to Nashville Scene.
Beer drinkers will still be able to find Yazoo products after the transition. The Madison facility will continue producing Yazoo’s lineup for distribution through R.S. Lipman, while TailGate takes on the site’s operations. Nashville Scene reported that Yazoo founder Linus Hall will remain involved with the combined business, overseeing production and sales for the Yazoo brand.
Hall and his wife and business partner, Lila, are stepping into a new chapter after more than two decades with Yazoo. In comments reported by Nashville Scene, Hall expressed confidence that the brewery’s beers would continue to be made by the same team, with opportunities for employees to grow under the new arrangement. TailGate has offered employment to Yazoo’s existing staff as part of the transaction.
The Madison taproom will become TailGate Brewery’s ninth taproom location, according to Nashville Scene. The acquisition brings together TailGate’s established beer and pizza offerings with Yazoo’s brewing operation, allowing both beer brands to remain part of the local market.
