Terra Gaucha Brazilian Steakhouse could be headed to The Gulch. According to the Nashville Business Journal, the Florida-based chain has filed plans for a restaurant at 1212 McGavock St. in Nashville.
Permit documents reviewed by the publication show the company is pursuing a nearly 10,000-square-foot space on the ground floor of the Modera McGavock apartments. The proposed buildout is valued at $2.5 million.
Founded in 2015 by Paulo Simonetti, Alex Potrich and Rodolfo Melo, Terra Gaucha debuted in Jacksonville, Florida. According to the company’s website, the brand has since expanded to six locations across Florida, Maryland, Nebraska, Indiana and Connecticut, with a Phoenix restaurant expected to open soon.
According to the company’s website, the restaurant is known for its traditional Brazilian churrasco dining experience, featuring a variety of grilled meats carved tableside and an extensive hot-and-cold market table.
Large-format restaurant projects like this have become less common as construction expenses and rental costs continue to climb. As the Nashville Business Journal reported, concepts occupying close to 10,000 square feet are now typically undertaken by well-established hospitality groups, with recent Nashville examples including Philippe Chow at Cummins Station and Ocean Prime at Nashville Yards.
WhatNow Nashville will continue to follow the project and provide updates on the opening timeline and additional details as they become available.
