Wawa is coming to Hermitage with a new store at 5360 Old Hickory Blvd., according to a Nashville ePermits record. The permit, issued September 21, 2026, calls for construction of a 5,919-square-foot Wawa convenience store at the property.
According to Nashville ePermits, the commercial building permit is listed as issued, with Venture Construction Co. named as the contractor. An exact opening date for the new store has not yet been provided.
The Hermitage project comes as Wawa continues building its Tennessee presence. BoroPulse reported that the retailer recently celebrated the grand opening of its first Murfreesboro store at 5208 Veterans Pkwy., with the event featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, limited-edition T-shirts for the first 250 customers, Wawa history events, leadership remarks about the company’s Tennessee expansion, and a “Hoagies for Heroes” competition between local police and fire departments.
BoroPulse also reported that Wawa plans to open to seven stores in Tennessee this year, with more than 50 stores planned across the state over the next 10 years. Each new store represents an investment of more than $7.5 million and is expected to involve an average of 140 contractors and local partners during construction.
Once open, each location is expected to employ an average of 35 associates. BoroPulse reported that Wawa expects its Tennessee expansion to create approximately 1,750 new, long-term jobs statewide.
For Hermitage, the newly issued permit marks a concrete step forward for Wawa’s Old Hickory Boulevard location. Nashville ePermits does not currently provide an opening date for the store.
