After a five-year run on Freret Street, Origami Sushi is moving to a new location at 7626 Maple St., which is attached to a former PJ’s Coffee flagship location. According to a permit filing with the City of New Orleans, Origami will continue to be a full-service restaurant offering a Japanese fusion take on sushi. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New Orleans has reached out for more information.

Origami has stood out in New Orleans’ competitive sushi landscape with its unique fusion sushi rolls. For example, the Godzilla Our Way Roll is a sushi roll made with cream cheese, avocado, shrimp tempura, and snow crab that is deep fried and topped with crunchy avocado and spicy mayo. The sushi restaurant will bring new life to a building on Maple Street that was home to a former PJ’s Coffee flagship location for almost 50 years.
