Quick service restaurants often serve a menu of processed foods that leave you feeling empty. But at the upcoming Noni’s Coffee & Eats in a former Lafayette KFC, customers will have fitness-inspired options and baked goods that are made from scratch.
Owner Jodi Taylor recently told What Now New Orleans that having fitness-conscious people in her family is a major reason her café will offer milk alternatives, salads, overnight oats, and pre-workout drinks.
“It’s something the area needs, but one of my sons and his wife are really into fitness,” Taylor said. “As a matter of fact, she works at one of the local gyms with special needs children. So, they’re all about healthy choices.”
The upcoming café will also offer some comfort foods for customers who want a bit of indulgence. Taylor says the cafe’s biscuits, pastries, and other baked goods will be made from scratch. A couple of specialty items on the menu will involve rolling sausage or boudin in biscuit dough and baking them to create a kolache-type savory treat. The lunch menu will be centered around a selection of panini sandwiches.
Being located at 2424 Ambassador Caffery Pkwy. in Lafayette, Noni’s is close to a local hospital and several different schools. Taylor said the café will look to attract regular customers with a loyalty program for teachers, nurses, and first responders.
