An upcoming restaurant and event center in Slidell is set to feature authentic Jamaican food and performances from major artists. Owner Kim Harris recently told What Now New Orleans that the upcoming Kingston Cravinz will pay tribute to her heritage and provide something different to the community.
“We have roots in Jamaica, and we cook the food,” she said. “We started Kingston Cravinz to bring something that’s missing here.”
Harris declined to provide an exact location in Slidell, citing sensitive issues with building renovations. However, she said that Kingston Cravinz would be 7,000 square feet, have a full bar, and regularly host major musical acts. She added that the tentative opening date is set for early summer.
Harris also owns Liquid Gardens, a smoothie cafe in Slidell. The cafe also offers cold-pressed juices and handcrafted coffee drinks. Harris said she imports fruits directly from Jamaica to make her juices and smoothies.
