Created by a couple who moved to New York from Verona, Italy, Bar Lento is preparing to open at 158 8th Ave. in Chelsea. According to a permit filing with Community Board 4, the restaurant will serve a small menu of classic Italian flavors, organized as starters (antipasti), pasta dishes (primi), mains (secondi), and desserts (dolci). Bar Lento will also have beer and a tight wine list featuring strictly Italian wines. In addition to indoor seating for 27 guests, Bar Lento will also have a back patio and bar with seating for 10 guests. An opening date has not been announced, and What Now New York has reached out for more information.

According to the official Instagram profile, Bar Lento was created by Italian couple Simone Viola and his wife Chiara. Instagram posts describe how the couple moved from Northeastern Italy to New York City to pursue their dream of opening a wine bar where people can escape the city’s fast pace.
