An authentic Korean restaurant is getting ready to open in Lenox Hill.
Bon Ga, meaning “original house” and “home,” will debut at 408 E. 64th St.
“I’ve been preparing for a long time,” owner Jay Suk told Whatnow New York City.
When guests enter, they will find an interior filled with red hues, exposed brick and wood accents. The space will also feature a main dining room and a covered outdoor back patio.
The menu will feature traditional fare, with signature dishes including tender pork backbone coated in a house spicy glaze, finished on a sizzling plate and served with cabbage and a creamy mayo sauce, along with chicken braised in a house sweet soy sauce with glass noodles, potatoes, shiitake mushrooms, bell peppers, scallions and onions.
Other staples will include beef bulgogi, spicy pork bulgogi and grilled chicken. Guests can also choose from Korean pancakes, including kimchi, seafood scramble and truffle potato varieties.
To pair with the food, Bon Ga will serve Korean soju, a clear, low-proof distilled spirit, along with rice wine, including a black raspberry flavor, and a selection of beers.
Suk is looking forward to bringing Bon Ga to the Upper East Side.
“It’s a new city. It’s a new place. I’m super excited. I’m just taking my time to perfect everything before I open,” he said.
Bon Ga plans to debut in September. Stay tuned!
