Pizza really does love Emily, and it seems that so does New York!
Emmy Squared Pizza is one of the city’s fastest growing new pizza chains. The brand was established in Williamsburg in 2016 as a new part of the Pizza Loves Emily family of restaurants. The concept was originated by founder Emily Hyland and Executive Chef Matthew Hyland alongside partners Howard Greenstone and Ken Levitan, who sought to established a new pizza restaurant with an emphasis on quality ingredients and deliciously unique toppings. Setting itself apart from traditional New York style pizzas, Emmy Squared Pizza borrows inspiration from Detroit, where the pizzas are square shaped and defined by their crispy bottom, fluffy dough, and cheesy “frico” crust. Beyond their pizzas though, Emmy Squared also offers a robust menu of other entrees, and their popular “Le Big Matt Burger” was even voted as one of “The Best New Burgers in NYC” by Gothamist and The Infatuation.
Since launching in 2016, Emmy Squared Pizza has since become one of the city’s fastest-expanding pizza restaurants. The company now operates six different locations across New York, and has expanded across the country with locations in Virginia, Pennsylvania, DC, Georgia, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee. In fact, What Now New York recently covered their expansion into the Hells Kitchen market, and now the team is once again getting ready to launch a brand new space in Brooklyn.
Emmy Squared Pizza has just signed a 10-year lease for a brand new space at 315 Fifth Avenue, in Park Slope. Located at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Third Street, the 2,200 square foot space was formerly occupied by Nublue Restaurant. Opening in 2021, Nublue offered French and Mediterranean cuisine in an upscale setting, but sadly shut its doors for good earlier this year. Unfortunately, it does not appear at this time that the Nublue ownership has outlined any plans for a new space in the immediate future.
All Points Real Estate’s James Monteleone said in a statement that the space “has to be one of the most attractive and well known corner locations in Park Slope, particularly because of the beautiful outdoor patio enclosure that was added,” adding that “The area has been experiencing an influx of new eateries, including fast-casual healthy concepts, and of course pizza.”
Outside of Brooklyn, the Emmy Squared team is also getting ready to open up their Lincoln Center location, which is slated to open some time this month at 200 West 60th Street. The 1,697 square foot venue is expected to seat up to 120 guests at once, and will provide a much-welcomed dining option for many tourists flocking to see their favorite performances at Lincoln Center.
