Speaking directly to the notion that hospitality industry professionals like strong flavors and even stronger drinks, Keepers is an upcoming spot at 34 8th Ave. in the West Village from the team behind the nearby Dandelion, which is known for its progressive cocktail program. According to the official Keepers website, the name is a reference to “the barkeepers and tavern keepers of old New York” who “kept the city going long after dark.”

“We started wondering…” the website adds, “when the shift ended and the doors locked, what would they make for themselves?”

At Keepers, located in the former Arthur & Sons Italian American Club, the answer to that rhetorical question will be forward-thinking tavern-style pizza and strong drinks. The Keepers website and the social media posts have a decidedly 70s-in-New-York vibe, suggesting the interior décor will have the same. What Now New York has reached out for more information.
