Known for creating the tsukemen shop TabeTomo and the whimsical omakase speakeasy The Office of Mr. Moto, AYS Hospitality is preparing to open a new concept in the East Village called Nomi Tomo. Located at 167 Ave. A, the upcoming restaurant will offer a range of essential Japanese comfort dishes, including tsukemen, ramen, rice bowls, yakitori skewers, and various appetizers. According to a filing with Community Board 3, the owners are seeking a beer and wine license for the restaurant, which will have a seating capacity for 50 guests. What Now New York has reached out for more information.

AYS Hospitality has been behind several acclaimed Japanese restaurants in New York, including cozy comfort food spots and high-minded concepts. TabeTomo is the former: widely credited with popularizing tsukemen — or dipping noodles — in the city. As for the latter, conceptual omakase restaurants The Office of Mr. Moto and The Residence of Mr. Moto spin fictitious yarns of a 19th-century Japanese gourmand around exquisite sushi.
