Buddy & Son is a new brasserie opening in New York City next month. It will serve a mix of French brasserie dishes, American classics, and seasonal food. A neighboring café will serve coffee, juice, and lunch.
Buddy & Son Is Opening at PUBLIC Hotel
Buddy & Son is opening inside the PUBLIC Hotel at 215 Chrystie Street on October 26. It is a new concept by chef Jake Epstein and restaurateur Shelley Armistead. It will bring together good food and a welcoming atmosphere for both hotel guests and residents.
Chef Jake Epstein will lead the kitchen at Buddy & Son, while Shelley Armistead will serve as creative director and partner. The two previously worked together at Gjelina New York. Epstein has also worked at well-known restaurants like Eleven Madison Park and Tom Colicchio’s Craft.
Bonetti/Kozerski Architecture designed the restaurant, which will have a 90-seat dining room and a 35-seat bar. Its interiors will feature warm wood, brass details, green leather booths, and mirrors. Meanwhile, the outdoor Bowery Garden will bring seating for an additional 50 guests.
The restaurant is named after Epstein’s father, Buddy, whom Epstein remembered for his attention to people and personal details. The team now hopes to create a place where guests will feel welcomed and receive personal service.
