Cafe Maud is slated to open its second location later this summer at 1640 Second Avenue on the Upper East Side, as recently reported by What Now New York. However, the new location will also house a new concept, The Domino Room.

The Domino Room will serve as the bar element of the dual concept. The space will be inspired by the private room in London’s Café Royal Hotel where Irish poet W.B. Yeats and his poet society would meet, according to a release. The design will feature elements like a wraparound Juliet balcony and an outdoor terrace. The menu will offer curated cocktails, including drinks exclusive to the Upper East Side location.

The Domino Room will complement Cafe Maud, which debuted last year in the East Village. The concept, founded by restaurant team Curt Huegel, Paul McDaid, Ronan Carter, Jack Watson and Aaron Ashe, has become a popular neighborhood cafe, serving coffee, breakfast items, pizzas, bowls, salads, plates and entrees such as steak-frites and pesto rigatoni.

The Upper East Side space that will house Cafe Maud and The Domino Room was formerly home to Five Mile Stone.

The ownership team is behind other notable concepts across the city and beyond, including Jackdaw in East Village, Odd Sister in SoHo and Dear Maud in Hoboken. Many of their concepts are known for their nods to Irish heritage.

The Domino Room is expected to open at 5 p.m. daily once Cafe Maud opens its doors.
