Chef Daniel Boulud is shaking up his current mix of restaurants later this year. He closed Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud and Epicerie Boulud at 1900 Broadway on June 22 with plans to bring in an entirely new concept at the corner of 64th and Broadway this fall, according to an announcement on the Bar Boulud Instagram page.
“After years of bustling pre- and post-theater dinners and celebrations, it’s time for something new. I’m excited to be partnering once again with designer David Rockwell, and I can’t wait to welcome you to the new restaurant — just in time to celebrate the holiday season together,” Boulud wrote in the announcement.
The three now-shuttered restaurants have been operating on the Upper West Side for almost two decades.
“We’ve shared countless boards of charcuterie, coq au vin, chicken tagine, grapefruit givrés, and jeroboams of Burgundy together,” the statement reads. “I’m deeply grateful to our talented chefs and incredible service team — and to you, our devoted guests — for making this a beloved destination for the Lincoln Center community.”
Few details are known about the new concept, whose name has not been announced yet. However, Boulud promises a “magnificent transformation” in partnership with the Rockwell Group.
Boulud is behind a variety of concepts throughout the city, including Restaurant Daniel, Le Pavillon, Le Gratin and La Tête d’Or, which opened last year. Epicerie Boulud also has four other locations in addition to the now-closed Lincoln Center location.
