Local chain The Grey Dog has plans to open its sixth location this fall, according to social media announcements and signage up at 304 West 56th St. near Columbus Circle. Construction has been underway since late summer.
The forthcoming location will join existing spots in Chelsea, the Flatiron District, Nolita, Union Square and West Village.
The menu centers around American fare, featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner. It offers sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, bowls, bar bites like chicken wings and garlic shrimp, and breakfast items like avocado toast and fried chicken with Johnny cakes.
The Grey Dog launched as a coffee shop in the 1990s before turning into the local cafe chain it is today.
“Today, Grey Dog has grown into five bustling cafes, fortunate enough to call some of New York’s most storied neighborhoods home. Our menu, still rooted in those early dishes, is a love letter to home-cooked Americana with options for everyone,” the website states. “Proudly, our stores remain homes before anything else, packed with nostalgia, and an appreciation for life’s simple pleasures — somewhere to leave your worries at the door and soak in a little piece of New York City magic.”
A representative with The Grey Dog confirmed the forthcoming location with What Now New York but could not immediately provide further comment.
