A Latina-owned jewelry boutique known for its interactive charm bar experience is expanding to NoLita.
Founder Gabriela Ceballos will debut her namesake jewelry boutique at 242 Mulberry St., joining existing New York locations in the West Village and SoHo, along with shops in Los Angeles and San Diego.
Ceballos told Whatnow New York City she got her start selling at street markets for seven years, including the annual San Gennaro Feast along Mulberry Street between Canal and Houston streets. When the Mulberry Street storefront became available, she said it felt like the perfect fit.
“I wasn’t even looking for a store. This store just became available. I know how strong this block is. I like this specific block because it’s like a discovery block—you have local boutiques and very nice restaurants. I was very confident it would be good for us,” she said.
The brand specializes in 18-karat gold-plated, waterproof and hypoallergenic jewelry, from everyday necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings to its customizable Charm Bar, where customers can design personalized pieces with a selection of chains and charms.
“I’m always excited for people to enjoy the experience of the charm bar. We do events with other brands, bachelorette trips, corporate events, birthdays—you pick the charms, and we have charms from about anything you could even imagine,” Ceballos said.
The Mulberry store will offer a more elevated vibe. Ceballos described the space as a “local, homey, boutique.”
“The concept will stay the same, but this store is going to look different from the other ones. I changed a few things on display, and we are going to have an exclusive charm collection for Mulberry Street. We’re also going to be bringing in Italian charms,” she said.
Ceballos said she looks forward to connecting with the local community.
“I’m very excited for people to discover us. I can do a post [on social media], but I feel when you come in, you can really feel why we’re different. Our quality is very important to us,” she said.
The Mulberry shop is currently in its soft-opening phase but will host a grand opening celebration in September. Visit the Gabriela Ceballos website and follow along on Instagram for the latest updates.
