A pottery studio for artists and enthusiasts of all skill levels is coming to Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
The Pottery Studio will debut at 1429 1st Ave. with classes beginning in September, according to the uesthings Instagram page.
The Upper East Side studio will serve as the company’s second Manhattan location, spanning a ground floor and mezzanine with large windows filling the space with natural light.
Chef Marshall Blair founded The Pottery Studio in Los Angeles’ Atwater Village after purchasing a gas kiln to make ceramics for his Blair’s restaurants and inviting other potters to share the space.
The studio relocated to Cypress Park in 2018 and has since expanded into a multi-city ceramics community with locations across California, Chicago, San Francisco and New York, offering memberships, classes and workshops.
The Pottery Studio offers four-week wheel-throwing courses for beginners, returning students and intermediate potters. Wheel throwing is a pottery technique in which clay is shaped by hand on a spinning pottery wheel to create pieces such as bowls, mugs and vases.
