Three Rivers restaurant Dad’s Place has closed after more than three decades in business. The family-owned breakfast and lunch spot cited rising costs and staffing challenges among the reasons for the closure.
Three Rivers’ Dad’s Place Closes After 36 Years
Established in 1990, the restaurant was a small-scale, family-owned staple that served classic American comfort food. Dad’s Place was known for its small-town vibe, friendly service, and cozy atmosphere. The restaurant has been a landmark gathering place for the Three Rivers community.
According to the WWMT, the restaurant was founded by Vera Reynolds and Kelly Evans. Later, it was owned and operated by Kelly’s daughter, Alisha Hoercher, and granddaughter, Tayler Hoercher.
The restaurant, located at 1104 Third St. Three Rivers, shared the farewell announcement with a social media post on August 18. The owners, Alisha, Sheila, and Tayler, wrote, “It is very bittersweet for all of us; we’ve been established since 1990 and have formed amazing connections with everyone in the community.”
They thanked the community and regular customers for their support over the years. They added, “All of you will be missed terribly, but this isn’t the end. It’s a new beginning paved with lots of sweat, tears, and hard work over the years.”
According to WWMT, the restaurant was initially known as Lizzy’s Lunchbox.
Reason Behind the Closure
In the closure announcement, the owners cited rising costs and staffing challenges as factors that made it increasingly difficult to operate the restaurant. They also said they were exhausted from running the business.
Several customers of the restaurant expressed their disappointment on social media after the closure announcement. Some also shared heartfelt messages and cherished memories in the comments.
“I’m so sad this was a good place to eat. Another place that is closing is Harding; not happy these places are closing. Thank you for your services to this community,” wrote one customer.
Another regular customer commented, “My heart is very sad today hearing this news. We eat breakfast here nearly every day. We will both miss sharing our adventures with you.”
With the closure of Dad’s Place, the Michigan community has lost a local gem from its dining scene.
