Bela Lisboa announced its permanent closure after nine years of service. The North Shore restaurant will close following service on May 31. The team also plans to host a farewell celebration on its final day in business.
Bela Lisboa on Frazier Avenue Announces Permanent Closure
Located on Frazier Avenue in the Chattanooga North Shore neighborhood, Bela Lisboa is a Portuguese-inspired restaurant. It is known for serving Portuguese and Mediterranean comfort dishes. Popular menu items include black truffle lobster, surf and turf, and ahi tuna.
The announcement was shared on social media, where the team wrote, “It is with mixed emotions that we share we will be closing our doors on May 31st.”
The team behind the restaurant also thanked the community and customers in the post. “Thank you to our amazing customers and community for 9 incredible years of support, laughter, and memories. We are truly grateful,” they wrote.
The restaurant plans to host a farewell party on May 31, from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. More details about the farewell party will be shared soon.
The team did not share any specific reason for its sudden closure. However, according to a NewsChannel 9 report, the restaurant has been struggling to stay open for the past few years since the 2024 fire.
“The Portuguese and Mediterranean restaurant underwent major renovations in late 2024 and 2025 due to damage caused by an electric vehicle fire that happened at a nearby apartment on Frazier Avenue,” stated the report.
Community Responses on Social Media
As the restaurant team announced the closure, several longtime customers expressed their disappointment. Fans shared heartfelt messages on social media.
“Really going to miss this place. We don’t get up there that often, but when we go to Chattanooga, that’s where we go to eat. Would love to come for the celebration, hoping we can,” commented one fan.
In the closure post, the team encouraged the community to visit and enjoy the final chapter of the restaurant’s journey with them. “Come see us one last time; make your reservations now! We would love to see everyone before we go.”
The Bela Lisboa closure marks the end of a nearly decade-old staple in the Chattanooga North Shore dining scene.
