The Paddock Club has announced that it has closed this month. The restaurant had been a popular nightlife destination in Watertown for over two decades. The closure followed the property owner’s decision not to renew the restaurant’s lease.
The Paddock Club Closes After Over Two Decades
The Paddock Club was a popular American restaurant, bar, and nightlife venue in downtown Watertown. The restaurant was located at 1 Public Square and had been operating for over 21 years. The restaurant recently announced that it has closed its doors on Monday, September 7.
According to the announcement on social media, despite the closure, the owner decided to celebrate The Paddock Club’s legacy with a final gathering on September 19.
In his post, owner Robert Dalton thanked local diners, employees, and everyone who has been a part of this journey. He wrote, “I want to personally thank every customer, employee, and all my friends and family that made The Paddock Club what it was! You all supported me throughout this journey, and I cannot repay all the love that you have shown me over the years.”
Robert also shared that he will have an auction in the next couple of weeks. He will be selling some of the equipment and decor inside The Paddock Club.

Reason Behind the Closure
According to the announcement, The Paddock Club has closed its doors after Jake Johnson Properties decided not to renew the restaurant’s lease, which expires in October. The restaurant allowed Robert to fulfill his dream of owning and operating a restaurant. Although Dalton wanted to continue operating the restaurant, he said he also felt it was the right time to close permanently.
The Paddock Club was particularly known as a martini bar, with a rotating selection of specialty martinis. Its menu included burgers, sandwiches, wings, pizza, flatbreads, tacos, seafood, and other pub-style dishes.
The Paddock Club’s closure marks the end of a more than two-decade presence in downtown Watertown. Its final gathering on September 19 will give the community a chance to celebrate its legacy and the memories created over the years.
