According to a recent press release, the Phoenix-based restaurant chain plans to restructure its business and seek a long-term partner. As part of the restructuring, the company closed 12 restaurants, with their final day of service on October 4.

True Food Kitchen Parent, LLC and certain affiliates have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. The Phoenix-based company is the parent entity behind the True Food Kitchen restaurant brand, which operates locations across the country.

PACER records show that True Food Kitchen Parent, LLC and certain affiliates filed voluntary Chapter 11 petitions on October 4, 2026. The proceedings are taking place in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.

As per PR Newswire, the company hopes to use the court-guided process for fostering its financial footing. The company also plans to optimize its restaurant footprint and cost structure. While these changes happen, operations across the country are expected to continue normally.

Founded in 2008, the company currently operates as a restaurant brand focused on wellness. Its nutrient-dense meals are offered across its remaining locations. These include Arizona, Maryland, Georgia, Virginia, Nevada, and others.

Court records on Pacermonitor show that the chain’s filing is part of a broader restructuring involving eight other affiliated companies.

Company Pursues Long-Term Partner

During the proceedings, True Food Kitchen Parent, LLC aims to look for a potential future partner to support the business. Any proposed transaction will be subject to court approval and other customary conditions.

The company has also secured about $20 million in financing from HumanCo TFK IV, which also requires court approval. Together with cash generated from operations, the financing is expected to provide liquidity during the Chapter 11 and sale processes.

Operations to Continue as Normal

As part of the restructuring, the company closed 12 restaurants on October 4, the press release adds. Its remaining 34 restaurants are located across 14 states, according to the press release.

The company has also asked the court for permission to continue its regular operations during the proceedings. The requests include paying employee wages and benefits, maintaining certain guest programs, and continuing to work with vendors and other business partners.

Jeff Chandler, the company’s CEO, said that they aim to simplify the chain’s business and focus on its health-focused food and hospitality. He added that the bankruptcy filing is intended to help the company build a stronger business for the long run.
