H&H Bagels is continuing its rapid nationwide expansion with three new franchise deals in key markets, according to a new article from QSR Magazine. As a result of a new multi-unit agreement, the iconic bagel brand is bringing its beloved bagels to Orange County.

Additional signings took place for markets in Miami, Raleigh-Durham, and San Diego. With these new franchise partnerships, the brand is poised to add 20 new locations across the country, bringing the total number of confirmed franchise locations to 70.

The California expansion is backed by a veteran team at AKL Bagels. Co-owner Kurt Kuyper is a seasoned franchise executive with over 30 years of experience at brands like Krispy Kreme, Taco Bell, and El Pollo Loco. He wrote on LinkedIn that he was “thrilled” by the opportunity.

Kuyper told What Now OC, “SRS Realty Advisors is working on our behalf to pull together a short list based on our specific parameters. We plan to initially build five in Orange County and five in San Diego County.”

Given the typically lengthy permitting process in California, the AKL Bagels team hoped to open one or two locations by the end of 2025, and then two or three a year thereafter.
