Pret A Manger has just inked a massive deal to expand, for the first time, into the Southern California market. According to a press release from the brand, plans are in the works to bring at least forty stores to the Orange County, Los Angeles, and San Diego areas.
To make this possible, the popular British sandwich chain has struck an expansive franchising deal with Dallas Holdings, a bi-national firm who already operate a collection of the brands UK stores. The move is part of a broader push toward franchising at Pret A Manger (commonly referred to as Pret), a choice the company hopes will accelerate growth.
Pret was founded in London in 1986 and has, over the years, ridden its selection of pre-made sandwiches and salads, along organic barista driven coffees, to global success. The brand currently operates around 550 shops in a variety of locals, including Hong Kong, France, Dubai, Kuwait, Switzerland, Brussels, Singapore and Germany. No stranger to the American market, Pret is already a major hit in New York City.
As locations for these stores become more clear, What Now Orange County will continue to report.
