Santa Ana River Brewing Company is set to open a new brewpub in Downtown Santa Ana, city permits reveal. The business is working on a project at 501 N. French Street, preparing to turn the long-vacant property into an eating and drinking establishment.

This week, the company’s co-founder Geoff Brand applied for a Conditional Use Permit requesting approval to sell beer and filed a notice of exemption from the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).

Leasing documents show the location has onsite surface parking and is adjacent to a city-owned parking garage with 700 spaces. It is a 2,024-square-foot standalone building that used to house a call center.

Founded in 2019 by Brand and Mike Miller, Santa Ana River Brewing Company is known for its known for hop-forward ales and West Coast brewing traditions. Its taproom off Warner Ave. in southern Santa Ana is open Tuesday through Thursday from 4 PM to 9 PM, Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 9 PM, and Sundays from noon to 6 PM.
