Urbane Cafe is preparing to open a new location in Dana Point at 32545 Golden Lantern, Suite C, according to a plan review filed with the Orange County Health Care Agency’s Environmental Health Division. The forthcoming restaurant will join the company’s growing Southern California footprint, although an opening date has not been announced.
The address is part of Ocean Ranch Village, a shopping center near Golden Lantern and Camino del Avion. Founded in Ventura in 2003 by Tom Holt, Urbane Cafe was created around the idea of serving made-to-order sandwiches and salads built around freshly-baked bread and locally sourced ingredients.
According to the company’s website, Holt designed the original cafe around a hearth oven, with focaccia baked on-site and a menu centered on locally sourced ingredients, house-roasted meats, and house-crafted sauces. The chain has since expanded throughout Southern California and into Nevada. The menu includes sandwiches, salads, bowls, and soups.
Sandwich selections include the So Cal, made with roasted chicken, avocado, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomatillo salsa, and chipotle aioli, as well as the UC Banh Mi with roasted chicken, cilantro, pickled vegetables, Fresno chilis, and sweet chili aioli. Other options include the Californian Vegetarian, BBQ Tri Tip, Chimichurri Steak, and Bella Portobello.
Salads include the Crunchy Peanut, Ahi, Cilantro Chicken, and Power Veggie, while bowls feature options such as Baja, Mediterranean, Salmon, and Seared Ahi Tuna. The company also offers catering featuring sandwich platters, salad platters, and boxed meals.
