Big River Grille & Brewing Works closed on Disney’s Boardwalk well over 2 years ago.
“Big River Grille & Brewing Works will have its last day of operation on Jan. 21, closing on Jan. 22. To provide additional lunch options, guests can explore a rotating selection of food trucks beginning Jan. 22,” said the Walt Disney World Resort in a statement quoted in January 2024 coverage by WDW News Today.
Plenty of time has passed since then, but no new concept has taken over the Big River Grille & Brewing Works space yet.
This week, however, What Now came across plan review documents submitted by Levy Restaurants for a new restaurant project called “Project Amazon.” (“Final name forthcoming,” adds a parenthetical in the restaurant’s listed name.) It’s listed as opening at 2100J Epcot Resorts Blvd.
Meanwhile, WDW News Today recently published coverage announcing that two new businesses were set to take over two currently empty spaces on the Boardwalk: “Project Bubbles” and “Project Amazon.”
“Even the details of the project on the filing are vague,” the coverage says. “For the most part, what we know is that this upcoming space has an estimated square footage of just under 2,500. Given that the space formerly housed a restaurant, it would not be overly presumptuous to think the new business will also be a restaurant.”
What Now reached out on Tuesday to representatives of Levy Restaurants to ask about plans for Project Amazon. The representatives were not immediately available for comment. What Now is awaiting more details, so stay tuned!
