Bark Social knows what people who love their dogs want. They want a place where their dogs can be off the leash and socialize with other dogs, while their humans chill out with beer, coffee and pub food. The dog-centered restaurant/bar/coffee house/dog park will be coming to Philadelphia soon at 3738 Main Street in Manayunk.

Bark Social’s website description calls the restaurant “the first social club for dogs where every day is a block party.” One of the images from their Facebook shows one of their other mottos “Good pups, full cups”. It really does sound like a party.

But rest assured that people without pups but who love dogs are still welcome. What Now Philadelphia noticed a social media user asked the official account if people who didn’t have dogs could still come to Bark Social and they were reassured that dog enthusiasts could be a part of the fun.

Bark Social is known as the mid-Atlantic’s first dog park bar and is just about to open a location in Bethesda, Maryland on May 6. When What Now Philadelphia contacted Bark Social, we were told via email that a date isn’t set for the Manayunk location to open.

The bar does require membership and the dog park is monitored for safety by the company’s employees. However, people who are already members can get a $50 referral bonus for referring a friend. Score.

If you are interested in joining in the fun once Bark Social is ready to come to Philadelphia, it is probably a good idea to follow them on social media for various offers. The big thing to look out for is the contest they run for a free founding membership to the club. They just held one of those contests last week for the upcoming Maryland location. Dogs and humans, get ready to rejoice.
