Philadelphia Barstool Sports fans will soon get to enjoy their favorite sports brand in person instead of just online. The Philadephia Caller reports that the company will open a new sports bar in Center City before the end of the year at 1213 Sansom St., the former location of Brickwall Tavern.
Penn National Gaming, which owns a 36 percent stake in the brand, will also open a Chicago location and several other Philadelphia locations in the future. There are currently 11 Barstool Sports bars in the U.S. Their Center City location will not have a betting parlor. However, those over 21 in the state of Pennsylvania can place bets on Barstool Sportsbook and other betting apps from their phone.
The Philadelphia Barstool Sports bar will cater to younger sports fans as Penn National Gaming President and CEO Jay Snowden applauded Barstool Sports for its “rapid ascent into one of the premier entertainment and lifestyle brands for Millennials and Generation Z,” according to Play Pennsylvania.
“We anticipate launching the first two stand-alone Barstool-branded sports bars in the coming months in Philadelphia and Chicago, which will represent an extension of our omnichannel strategy to more targeted, flexible, and highly valued locations,” Snowden said.
