Nearly a year after its original anticipated opening, a Haddonfield bagel shop helmed by a pair of local hospitality rockstars is finally enjoying some forward momentum. Penny’s Bagels, from Chris Fetfatzes and Heather Annechiarico, has received its construction permit and is getting ready to serve the community, reports local media outlet 42 Freeway.

Alongside the aforementioned construction permit, the bakery was granted zoning and health department approval in December for its 212 Kings Highway East home. Penny’s will be breathing a whole new life into the storefront, which previously housed Lunachick, a women’s clothing store.

While the space will require a decent amount of work, including plumbing and electrical renovations, ownership is optimistic for a late spring opening, aiming for a Memorial Day debut (which falls on May 26 this year, so bagel bliss is at hand!)

Future regulars can look forward to fresh bagels, baked on site, alongside smoked fish and coffee.

Chris Fetfatzes and Heather Annechiarico can claim several notable hospitality credits as their own. The duo launched Hawthorne’s, Grace & Proper, and Sonny’s Cocktail Bar. Penny’s Bagels is certain to be another success story for the powerful restaurant team.
